The Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame is excited to announce that Finlay Thomson has been honoured as the Athlete of the Month for June 2024. Finn recently completed his second year at Syracuse University, where he excelled on the Varsity Lacrosse Team and earned an All-American Honourable Mention. As a sophomore midfielder, he started in all 18 games, scoring 24 goals and providing 14 assists for a total of 38 points—the highest for a Syracuse midfielder this season. His outstanding performance helped lead the Syracuse Orangemen Lacrosse Team to an invitation to the NCAA National Championship tournament, finishing the season ranked 4th in NCAA Division 1.
When Finn is not at school, he returns to Etobicoke to play for the Mimico Mountaineers Jr Lacrosse team. Mimico Lacrosse was inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in 2023. In June, Finn became Mimico’s All-Time Career Point Leader, surpassing Graeme Gair, who had held the record since 1966. As the team captain, Finn led the Mountaineers to a strong Ontario Jr. A regular season and they are now competing in the playoffs with their sights set on hoisting the prestigious Minto Cup, the Junior “A” National Championship.
Best of luck to Mimico in the playoffs, and congratulations to Finn Thomson for being named the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame’s Athlete of the Month.
