Celebrating Excellence: ESHOF Humber College Scholarship Recipients
Every year, the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame (ESHOF) honors outstanding male and female athletes from Humber College who have excelled not only in their sports but also in academics and leadership. This year, we proudly announce Hayley Green, Sonia Rocha, Renee Yip, and Nathaniel Green as the deserving recipients of the ESHOF scholarship.
Renee Yip has made a significant impact on the badminton scene, both provincially and nationally. As a member of the Humber Hawks badminton team, Yip’s achievements include clinching the CCAA Gold Medal Championship in Mixed Doubles and earning the title of OCAA Athlete of the Year Across All Sports. Yip, a third-year Kinesiology student at Guelph-Humber, attributes her success to her unwavering motivation and determination.
Sonia Rocha, a stalwart of the women’s varsity soccer team at Humber for four years, exemplifies exceptional leadership qualities. As team captain, Rocha’s motivation and commitment have led the team to numerous titles, including provincial gold and national bronze. Her prowess on the field, coupled with her dedication to sports management studies, makes her a well-rounded athlete and role model.
Nathaniel Green, a cross-country standout at Humber, has demonstrated remarkable dedication and work ethic since joining the team three years ago. Green’s relentless pursuit of improvement and positive attitude have propelled him to success, earning him accolades such as a top-ten finish at nationals. His commitment to excellence and leadership by example inspire both himself and his teammates.
Hayley Green, a seasoned veteran of the women’s varsity soccer team, has consistently showcased her dedication and resilience on the field. Despite facing challenges like injuries, Green’s unwavering commitment to the team has never wavered, earning her accolades like Rookie of the Year and multiple OCAA gold medals. Her leadership and determination make her an invaluable asset to the team and a true inspiration to her peers.
The ESHOF takes great pride in recognizing and supporting exceptional student-athletes like Hayley, Sonia, Renee, and Nathaniel. Their achievements exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship, academic excellence, and leadership that we strive to promote within our community.
