Meet Peter Flagler, the embodiment of perseverance and dedication in sports. As a 2016 recipient of the Etobicoke Sports Hall Of Fame (ESHOF) Special Olympics Scholarship, Peter has continued to excel, recently joining the Toronto Marlies organization as a member of their equipment staff.

At 21 years old, Peter has been a stalwart member of the Etobicoke Stingers Special Olympics Basketball Team for a decade. Beyond basketball, Peter is a versatile athlete, participating in downhill skiing, swimming, and baseball with Special Olympics. His commitment to sports extends to his academics, where he swims for the Power Swim Team and contributes to the school’s football team and leadership program at Michael Power/St. Joseph Secondary School.

Peter’s journey took a significant leap forward when he realized his dream of working with the Toronto Marlies. His involvement with the team has not only fulfilled a lifelong ambition but also positioned him as an ambassador for the ESHOF. Peter’s role includes attending events and sharing his experiences, amplifying the message of inclusivity and sportsmanship championed by the Special Olympics.

Joanne Noble, Chair of the Board of the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame, expressed her excitement about Peter’s appointment as an ambassador. She highlighted the organization’s pride in supporting both the Student Scholarship Program and Special Olympics athletes in the Etobicoke community.
