It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Munro Moir, a beloved figure in the sports community, on December 18, 2016, at Humber River Hospital. Bob, aged 87, left behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and mentorship.
Survived by his loving wife, Edmee, Bob was a cherished father to Karen, Bobby, Sandra, and Dianne, and a proud grandfather to Nancy, Kevin, Kyle, Michelle, Lorena, Ashleigh, and Stephanie. Additionally, he leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and his brother, David.
Bob’s remarkable career spanned over 35 years, during which he served as a Commentator and Executive Producer for the CBC Sports Department. His contributions to the field were marked by dedication and passion, making him a mentor to many individuals along the way.
While Bob’s private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. In honor of his legacy, contributions to a charity of choice are welcomed in lieu of flowers.
Joanne Noble, Chair of the Board at the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame, fondly remembers Bob as a true gentleman and a pivotal Founding Member of the Hall. His tireless efforts and contributions to the Etobicoke sports community will forever be cherished.
In this time of mourning, we extend our deepest sympathies to Bob’s wife Edmee, their family, and all who were touched by his remarkable presence. May his memory inspire us to continue his legacy of kindness and dedication in the world of sports.
