The Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame is thrilled to share that Stella Sgro has been recognized as the Athlete of the Month for July 2024.
Stella has proudly represented Etobicoke throughout her basketball journey, beginning with the Etobicoke Thunder Basketball club as a young player and continuing at Richview CI. Over the years, she has quickly risen through the ranks and is now recognized as one of the top basketball players in her class across Canada.

    • Nike Skills Challenge 3-Point Shootout Champion in 2024
  • Earning the #14 spot on the 2024 Canletes All-Canadian ‘Fantastic 50’
  • Identified an All Star Performer in the Slinky High School Showcase
  • Selected as MVP in the SHE GOT GAME (ST. JAMES) showcase event this summer.
Off the court, Stella is an Honour Roll student and was also the recipient of the The Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Bronze Award (completing requirements that include: Voluntary Service, Physical Recreation, Skill Development and Adventurous Journey) and is a Camp Leader with the City of Toronto, Parks, Forestry and Recreation right here in Etobicoke.
As a recent high school graduate, Stella is preparing to embark on her journey to San Jose, California to pursue her dream of playing NCAA Division 1 basketball in the United States. Stella will be suiting up for San Jose State University on a full ride scholarship.
The culmination of a life dedicated to her craft, Stella proudly represents Etobicoke and is proud to call Etobicoke home.
