Born and raised in Etobicoke, Carly is from a hockey family. Both parents and her brother all play hockey. Carly started playing organized hockey at just 4 years old in an all-boys league for the Humber Valley Sharks. She established her aptitude for hockey by being one of the top goal scorers on her team. In 2000, Carly joined the OWHA with the Etobicoke Dolphins playing two positions as a forward and goaltender.

After many hours on the ice between the posts, Carly was noticed by the Markham Thunder of the CWHL and was drafted by them in 2017. By coincidence, Sami Jo Small who was inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 and is a Founder of the CWHL also plays as a goalie in the league.

Along with playing for the Thunder, Carly has her own goalie hockey school, which is a full-time job and most recently, she has partnered with a company that makes customized goalie masks. She also plays pick up hockey with many of the NHL alumni at the MasterCard Centre every week.

“Carly has national level goaltender skills and ability and it’s only a matter of time before she gets recognized by the scouts from Hockey Canada. I’ve seen her play with the NHL alumni players and I believe she’s got what it takes to get to the top level” says Joanne Noble, President & Chair of the Board of the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame.
