Jesse Zesseu

The Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame is thrilled to announce Jesse Zesseu as the Athlete of the Month for September 2024.
Jesse proudly represented Etobicoke in September, earning a silver medal in the men’s discus F37 class at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The 25-year-old Bishop Allen Academy graduate, who later earned his Bachelor of Arts (political science) degree from the University of Guelph, achieved a throw of 53.24m to secure his first Olympic medal—likely the first of many.
Born with cerebral palsy after suffering a stroke at birth, Jesse has 75% function on his right side compared to his left. Making his Paralympic debut in Paris, he earned a silver medal, his second international medal after also claiming silver at the Santiago 2023 Parapan Am Games. Jesse is also a gold medalist and the 2023 Canadian champion in the F37 discus, holding two Canadian records in the T37 long jump and F37 discus.
This outstanding young athlete shows no signs of slowing down. Now back at the University of Guelph, Jesse is training for the upcoming World Championships, with his sights set on competing at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games. He aims to compete in both discus and long jump, determined to bring even more medals home to Etobicoke.
A big congratulations to Jesse Zesseu for being named the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame Athlete of the Month.
Special thanks to Canadian Tire, The Queensway for their generous support of the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame, helping us honour our Athlete of the Month.
