Ezequiel Carrasco

Ezequiel, a second-year goalkeeper, has made an immediate impact with Humber soccer. Carrasco finished the season with a perfect 4–0 record and did not surrender a goal in 370 minutes of game action. Zeke and the Hawks captured the OCAA and CCAA national championship last season. It was Humber’s sixth national title since 2012. A Brampton native, Zeke is currently enrolled in the Graphic Design program at Humber.

Alexis Ferreira

Alexis, a 2021 OCAA league all-star, is a fourth-year third baseman for Humber softball. She has helped the Hawks remain a top offensive program in the province, highlighted by her 14 career home runs. She helped lead the Hawks to an OCAA bronze medal while garnering all-tournament recognition for the second straight season. Alexis, a Mississauga native, is currently enrolled in the Psychology program at Humber.

Romeo Osas Joshua

As a first-year guard for Humber basketball, Romeo was an integral part of one of the finest seasons in program history. As a rookie, he helped orchestrate one of the top offenses in the conference as the Hawks finished the year averaging 96.1 points per game. Romeo and Humber won a provincial championship as well as the program’s seventh national championship and the first since 2015. Romeo, a Toronto native, is currently enrolled in the Child and Youth Studies program at Humber.

Remi, the 2022 OCAA defensive player of the year, is a fifth-year defender for Humber soccer. She has been an integral part of the Hawks backline since she joined the program in 2017 and helped Humber remain a top defensive program in the conference, evidenced by the team’s seven clean sheets this season. She finished last season on the honour roll and was named a CCAA All-Academic. Remi, a Brampton native, is currently enrolled in the Community Social Services program at Humber.

Chen Li Heuk

Cheuk Hin Li, also known as Nature, is a Broadcast and Television student at Humber College. New to the Hawks Sports Network, Nature played a pivotal role in helping to create the best student-run sports production in the country.

Stefan Gerardi

Stefan Gerardi, a journalism student at the University of Guelph-Humber, brought an enthusiastic and unique point of view to Humber Athletics. He has used the written word to shine a light on the incredible accomplishments of Humber student-athletes, helping to keep Humber the most visible athletics program in the country.

Okela Sylvester

Okela Sylvester may well be the most modest winner of an Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame High School Scholarship. Although a three-sport star at Kipling Collegiate, she always deflected the limelight that should shine on her and her two Athlete of the Year awards onto her teammates and classmates. In her own journey and progression as an athlete, she states that it has never been about the wins and losses, but more about the skill development she has learned in each match. Away from the court, she applies this same all-for-one approach to her efforts in the community.

Anastasha Gavric

Anastasija Gavric did something that few student-athletes have been able to do when she arrived at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute. She made the Senior Girls Volleyball Team, and even more impressively, stepped on the court as a starter. Her athletic and leadership skills became evident immediately, and she was named captain of the squad in her second year, another rarity. In the classroom, she earned a mark of 97% in the challenging Grade Twelve Leadership class on her way to securing a spot on the honour roll. Her leadership abilities crossed borders, as she became a mentor and coach of the Junior Boys Volleyball Team.

Bennett Grumbach

Bennett Grumbach excelled at many sports, including hockey, soccer, track & field, and volleyball at school, but basketball is his passion, and the sport that he has embraced more so than any other over the last number of years. His move to be a member of the Etobicoke Basketball Association was a fruitful one in 2017, as he led the squad to the provincial championship. His volunteer service is vast, and as you would expect is centered around the sport of basketball.

Michael Dodaro

Michael Dodaro, a graduate of Bishop Allen Academy, was an all-around athlete who competed for his school in five sports, excelling at both baseball and swimming. His exploits on the diamond and in the pool went well beyond that of his school environment, finding incredible success with the community-based Etobicoke Rangers Baseball Club and the Lakeshore Swim Club. His commitment to his school and fellow students was further witnessed as he was involved with the athletic and student council, providing leadership over many years. He is also proud to state that he was a proud member of Bishop Allen’s Youth Ministry.
