Natalie Stoberman

Natalie Stoberman played on the OCAA fastball championship team and was named the OCAA fastball Rookie of the Year and All-Academic, Humber fastball Rookie of the Year and Co-Freshman of the Year.

“No words can express how thankful I am to be at Humber and be a Hawk,” said Stoberman. “I have got the best of all worlds here—I get to play my sport, be in one of the top programs for broadcast and perform in my dream job, all while staying close to home.”

Stoberman will graduate from the accelerated print and broadcast journalism program this year. With her ultimate goal of being a sports reporter, Humber has been the gateway to her career dreams. Stoberman works as the sports journalist, and the host and sideline reporter for home varsity games.

Kingsley Boasiako

Kingsley Boasiako, a fifth-year student at Humber, exemplifies excellence in all its forms, balancing a packed schedule split between athletics, academics, and working in the field. Born in Ghana, Kingsley was two years old when he came to Canada, where he was raised. He was only five when he began playing soccer, and he hasn’t looked back since. As a student at St. Edmund Campion Secondary School, Kingsley won OFSAA for soccer twice, and in Grade 12 was named Athlete of the Year. The accolades have kept coming at the college level for him too, having won at both provincials and nationals three times.

Already having studied business at Guelph-Humber, Kingsley is currently enrolled in Accounting, for which he has made Humber’s Honour Roll. He has also won Humber’s Pinball Clemons Leadership Award, which is awarded to a student with high academic standing and community involvement. Indeed, Kingsley also dedicates time to helping others, having worked at a soup kitchen last year. And if this all wasn’t enough, Kingsley, who aspires to work in the financial field with accounting or auditing, currently works for Toronto-Dominion Bank, earning valuable experience for his future.

Nick Suddes

Nick Suddes is currently in his fifth and final year at Humber, where he plays a crucial role within the college’s Athletics Department. Presently in his third year of Humber’s Sport Management program, Nick primarily works on livestream production for Humber athletics, covering all fall sports, including volleyball, baseball, and soccer. Depending on the day, his work can include directing, filming, video editing, and more, leaving his mark on Humber Sports broadcasts in more ways than one.

In addition to this, he also has journalism experience reporting on softball for Humber Hawks Sports this year. Nick’s love of sports extends beyond management, however, having been playing hockey since he was six years old. He still plays hockey today, playing on Humber’s extramural hockey team, and he also played soccer when he was younger. His work and dedication to Humber athletics have earned him great recognition, winning the Joe Suzer Award for Humber Media. Nick aims to continue with hockey and sports media production after graduation, and dreams of working for the OHL in production, game day operations, or sales and marketing.

Mohammad Khosroshahi

Mohammad Khosroshahi is currently studying towards an Advanced Diploma in Sports Management at Humber College and is deeply involved in working for Humber’s Athletics Department. He started at Humber in 2015, having previously studied radio broadcasting at Seneca College, where he also has experience with on-air hosting. Mohammad wears many different hats while working for the Athletics Department, primarily working in sports information and play-by-play commentary for Humber Hawk sporting events, while also occasionally writing stories for Humber Hawks Sports.

His interest in sports is not limited to working on the sidelines either, as he previously played high school basketball while attending Alexander Mackenzie High School in Richmond Hill. Outside of sports and radio, Mohammad has an interest in music production, as well as a strong self-focus toward community outreach and youth development. He has previously volunteered for the Run for the Cure Marathon and aspires to one day work for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, as well as continue his dedication toward youth development and explore coaching.

Christina Branch

Christina may well be the most athletic member of any Humber Hawks women’s team, and there is sufficient proof—given her sport, that she may also be one of the toughest. Women’s Rugby 7’s is not for the faint of heart, as the game includes violent and explosive tackles throughout the game. She is fleet of foot and unlike the traditional game of Rugby 15’s, it is speed and skill that rule. Her ability to stay away from the pack and potential harmful contact is very much a part of her game. Her numbers from the 2017 season are staggering. She scored 180 points (20 tries, 40 converts) in just 16 games played, with many of these games seeing her move to the sidelines early to allow others into the games because of blowouts.

Christina, a fourth-year player from Oshawa, is currently enrolled in the Sport Management Program at Humber.

Teresa DaSilva

Teresa moves into her second year with the CCAA National Champion Humber Hawks women’s basketball team. Coming to Humber as a highly touted recruit from the Etobicoke Thunder and Michael Power/St. Joseph High School programs, she has shown great promise. Unfortunately, a reoccurrence of an existing injury had her put her first year on hold. She continued to be with the team throughout the championship run and was a positive and motivating asset from the sidelines. Teresa, a true Etobian, has enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing program at Humber College, a collaborative program with the University of New Brunswick.

Meaghan Murphy

Meaghan, one of the famous Murphy baseball/softball playing clan, has her two brothers playing for the Hawks men’s baseball team, while she is just completing her fourth year with the women’s softball team. She measures up to her brothers and then some, as she has recorded the best statistical numbers of her career. Her .364 average has helped propel her career average to .333, and 22 runs and 28 hits are tops for her in regular season play. She has solidified her spot in the middle of the lineup and is counted on in all situations, be it getting on base or knocking in a key run to win a game. Defensively, she is a slick fielding second baseman, with a strong arm. Her best attributes are two-fold, as her softball IQ is extremely high and her leadership is simply off the charts. Meaghan, a native of Brampton, has already graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and is now taking the Recreation & Leisure Program.

Liam Sutherland

The reigning OCAA Men’s Baseball Player of the Year has picked up where he left off last year, leading the Hawks to their first-ever regular season pennant and best-ever finish at 17–3. If statistics have any impact on determining a player’s ability and improvement, then Liam’s should be shouted out loud. His numbers increased in At-Bats, Runs, Hits, Triples, RBI’s, Stolen Bases, Batting Average, OPS, and Slugging %. His 28 runs scored are an incredible ten better than his closest competitor and an all-time team record. Defensively, he is regarded as the best centerfielder in the league, with a “cannon-like” arm that no one dares to test anymore.

Liam, who hails from Mississauga, is in his third year with the Hawks. He is currently enrolled in the Sports Management Program at Humber.

McKenzie Barnes

Mckenzie Barnes, known to many as the girl behind the camera, is currently enrolled in her final year in the Media Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber, specializing in media business. For the past three years, she’s been working for the Humber College Athletic Department in sports information and recreation. She has been able to build relationships with the teams and players, giving her the advantage to get up close and personal.

Her experience at Humber College and working for the athletic department has given McKenzie the ability to be successful in her field. She hopes to pursue a career as a content creator within a marketing firm in Toronto. Additionally, owning her own photography shop is a dream of hers to keep her passion alive.

Not only has she been a big part of athletics, but McKenzie has also been a huge part of the Humber Dance company, serving as a dancer, choreographer, and media executive for the team. Outside of school, she runs her own photography business specializing in portraits and events. With the skills acquired from Humber College, McKenzie thanks fellow employer Jim Bialek for this amazing opportunity.

Danielle Dupuis

Danielle Dupius took over as the Humber Hawks sideline sports reporter in 2016 and became a member of the BRTV Broadcast crew at Humber Hawks home games. In the past year, Humber College hosted the OCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, and Danielle observed at the sideline to report every game, followed by a post-game interview with the player of the game, regardless if they were a member of the Humber Women’s Basketball Team or not.

Most people would figure her program of study is Journalism, from her experience and how she presents herself. Oddly enough, Danielle is in her final year in the Bachelor of Public Relations program. This program addresses public speaking and reporting, which is why Danielle adjusted so quickly in this role. If it weren’t for her former teammate and former recipient of this award, Jake Thomson, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity. With her passion for writing and her newfound love of sports writing, she is currently reporting on the Humber Hawks Cross Country team. In 2017, Danielle helped the Hawks achieve Silver at the 2017–18 OCAA Cross Country Championship.
